Job Description
OneStop Shopfitting and Joinery – Mordialloc VIC
n
Good cabinet makers have options. This one is worth knowing about.
n
We are recruiting for an established joinery business in Mordialloc with a strong team, serious projects and plenty of work ahead.
n
This is not a small workshop living from job to job.
n
The business produces around $12–15 million worth of joinery each year, with a team of around 10 cabinet makers, 8 installers and a substantial installation workforce operating across its projects.
n
They are established, busy and growing.
n
More importantly, they have built a workshop that good tradespeople actually want to stay in.

n
They are established, busy and growing.
n
More importantly, they have built a workshop that good tradespeople actually want to stay in.
n
A team that genuinely backs each other
n
Everyone says they have a good culture.
n
This business can actually explain what that means.
n
The team is close. People help each other. If someone needs a hand, the rest of the workshop pitches in.
n
There is also a very simple approach to workplace drama: they don't want it.
n
They want good tradespeople who can have a laugh, work hard, help the person beside them and get on with the job without ego or unnecessary politics.
n
Management takes protecting that environment seriously.
n
If someone comes into the business and consistently causes problems for the rest of the team, they will deal with it rather than expecting everyone else to put up with it.
n
For someone coming from a workshop where the work might be good but the environment isn't, that matters.
n
The projects are worth getting excited about
n
The business works heavily across multi-residential projects throughout Melbourne and is expanding further into high-end commercial and office fit-outs.
n
And when they say high-end commercial, they mean it.
n
A single floor of an office project can contain around $2 million worth of joinery.
n
That means detailed work, interesting materials, curved units, laminating, custom pieces and cabinetry where the finish has to be right.
n
You're not joining a workshop to spend every day knocking together the same basic box.
n
There is volume, but there is also proper cabinet making.
n
They need people who can produce work quickly when programmes get busy without forgetting that the finished product still has to look top-notch.
n
There is plenty happening
n
This is a rapid-moving commercial environment.
n
Projects can ramp up quickly, builders can accelerate programmes and there will be periods where the workshop is pushing hard to get work out.
n
For someone who likes being busy, there is plenty of work here.
n
There can also be strong overtime opportunities when projects demand it, including longer days and occasional weekend work.
n
If you're the type of cabinet maker who would rather be busy than standing around wondering where the next job is coming from, you'll probably enjoy the pace.
n
They want someone for the long term
n
This isn't about finding another pair of hands for the next project.
n
They are looking for another experienced Cabinet Maker who can become part of the team.
n
Someone they can trust with a set of shop drawings.
n
Someone who understands the trade.
n
Someone who can jump onto straightforward production work when that's what the workshop needs, but who also has the skill to take on detailed laminating, curved units and higher-end cabinetry.
n
You don't need to know every machine in their workshop on day one.
n
CNC training can be provided.
n
What matters more is having strong fundamentals and enough experience that you can walk into a professional joinery workshop and contribute.
n
What you'll bring
n
n
- Read and work independently from shop drawings
n
- Manufacture cabinetry confidently from the bench
n
- Laminate to a high standard
n
- Build curved units
n
- Operate panel saws and edge banders
n
- Work across both detailed and higher-volume cabinetry
n
- Keep your standards up when the workshop gets busy
n
- Take ownership of your work
n
- Work well with the people around you
n
- Bring a good attitude without bringing an ego
n
n
CNC experience is useful, but it is not essential if the rest of your cabinet-making skills are strong.
n
What's on offer
n
$40–$45 per hour depending on experience.
n
Full-time, permanent employment.
n
A stable business with a substantial pipeline of work.
n
High-end commercial and multi-residential projects.
n
Opportunity for overtime when programmes ramp up.
n
A workshop full of experienced tradespeople.
n
And a management team that genuinely cares about maintaining a good environment for the people already working there.
n
If you're already employed, we're not expecting you to move just because another cabinet-making job exists.
n
But if you're starting to think about what else is out there, this is the kind of business worth having a confidential conversation about.
