The Deadly Coders Academy is a nationally recognised First Nations education charity. Our Academy program is our flagship career pathway - designed to take motivated First Nations people with foundational tech skills and build them into job-ready software engineers in 10 weeks.

The program runs Monday and Tuesday each week from 31 August 2026 at CBA's Sydney CBD offices, with structured self-directed study tasks to complete between sessions. This is a blended learning model combining face-to-face instruction, team-based project work and independent practice.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
n
Full-stack web development using TypeScript, React and Next.js
n
Backend engineering with Node.js, REST APIs, PostgreSQL and DynamoDB
n
Cloud and DevOps using AWS, Docker and CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions
n
Software testing and security including Jest, TDD, OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices
n
Professional engineering practices including Agile, system design, observability and responsible AI use
n
Capstone project - a full-stack application built and presented live to CBA representatives in Week 10
n
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
n
This role is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only. This is an identified position under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
n
You are based in Sydney or can commit to attending CBA's Sydney CBD offices every Monday and Tuesday across 10 weeks
n
You have some prior technology experience or a relevant qualification - this could be a TAFE certificate, a school IT subject, self-taught coding experience, or participation in a STEM program
n
You have a genuine interest in pursuing a software engineering career
n
You are available to commence 31 August 2026 and can commit to the full 10-week program

Paid casual employment - casual hourly rate plus superannuation for all attendance hours

Direct pathway to CBA Tech Associate roles - curriculum mapped to CBA's own engineering competency framework

A laptop provided for use throughout the 10-week program

A professional GitHub portfolio and project evidence you can take to any employer in Australia

Academic and wrap-around support throughout the program
