Overview
n
The Solution Architect will assist the Business Area by assisting with the implementation of primarily ICT/digital transition and transformation services, ensuring effective prioritisation of efforts, resource management, risk management and sound governance in accordance with enterprise frameworks.
n
Key duties and responsibilities
n
The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
n
n
- Leading the development of architectures for complex solutions ensuring consistency with agreed requirements.
n
- Providing technical guidance and governance on solution development and integration.
n
- Identifying and evaluating alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance, and scalability.
n
- Producing specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers, and interfaces for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
n
- Managing and coordinating the target architecture across multiple projects, work streams or initiatives, ensuring architecturally significant determinations and decisions are effectively documented.
n
- Contributing to the establishment and maintenance of policies, principles, and practices for the selection of architecture components.
n
- Ensuring relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices (including security) are applied correctly and consistently.
n
- Evaluating requests for changes and deviations from specifications and recommending actions to delegates and governance bodies for endorsement/decision or other appropriate action.
n
- Working as part of an Agile project/program team or business as usual area as directed.
n
- Performing other duties as directed from time-to-time by Directors/Team Leaders or a delegate.

Qualifications and experience
n
n
- Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) working as a Solution (Application) Architect on a large-scale transformation project or program.
n
- Proven experience designing applications and solutions for traditional on-premises, cloud, and hybrid cloud environments.
n
- Proven experience designing and documenting applications that meet business requirements and align with the client's strategic vision and operational constraints.
n
- Demonstrated technical proficiency and experience using: - Microsoft365 - Azure DevOps - Azure API Management - Azure Application Service Environments - Azure Functions and Logic Apps - Azure Service Bus
n
- Knowledge of and experience using various Microsoft and industry frameworks, including: - Blazor, React and other Single Page Application Frameworks - OpenAI and HATEOAS - Asynchronous integration frameworks - Composable applications frameworks - Data microservices
n
- Well-developed communication skills,
including the ability to distil technical information in Plain English to communicate with influence.
n
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including the ability to translate clearly between technical teams and business areas
n
n

Qualifications
n
n
- Tertiary qualifications or industry recognised certification in Information Management, Computer Science, or a relevant discipline.
n
- Robust skills in Archimate (3.1) as an architecture documentation and definition language.
n
- Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale ICT transformation projects/programs, preferably in a Commonwealth Government setting.
n
- Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth Government frameworks, including the ICT frameworks.
n
- Demonstrated understanding of Agile ways of work (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework [SAFe] or similar).
n
