Chrysalis Steiner School invites an exceptional educational leader to guide our school’s next chapter. Our purpose as a Steiner school is guided by a deep connection to anthroposophy and the Australian Core Principles of Steiner Education. We seek a leader who can carry the school’s core purpose, vision, and values and implement strategy with integrity, moral purpose, and strategic clarity. We seek a person who understands that leadership in a Steiner school is both leading learning, culture and strategy and an inner developmental path.
As Education Director, you will lead across all domains of the Australian Professional Standard for Principals, expressed through Steiner educational values:
- Leading Teaching and Learning
- Collaboratively lead the pedagogical life of the school through deep understanding of child development and the Australian Steiner Curriculum. Framework.
- Ensure consistently high-quality teaching practice that supports the whole child.
- Strengthen the College of Teachers as a professional learning community through reflective practice, collaborative inquiry, and shared responsibility.
- Leading Improvement, Innovation and Change
- Collaboratively lead and guide strategic development that sustains the long-term health and future direction of the school.
- Lead innovation that remains true to Steiner principles while critically engaging with a wide range of evidence-informed leading, teaching and learning practices within a culture of inquiry.
- Foster a culture of professional development and growth, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
- Leading the Management of the School
- Oversee operational, staffing, compliance, and financial systems with clarity and accountability.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to enact strategic priorities and ensure organisational stability.
- Build effective structures that support staff wellbeing, student safety, and high-quality learning environments.
- Leading the School’s Engagement with Community
- Nurture community life, recognising the school as a social organism where parents, teachers, and students flourish together.
- Strengthen relationships with families,
local organisations, and the broader Steiner education sector.
- Communicate with warmth, transparency, and presence.
- Embodying Vision and Values
- Lead with consciousness, moral imagination, and inner steadiness.
- Model the values of Chrysalis Steiner School in daily practice.
- Hold the school as a place where young people can learn, grow, and discover their place in the world.
Who You Are
You are a dynamic, strategic, and inspirational leader with:
- Professional standing and experience within the Steiner education sector.
- A proven record of pedagogical leadership and school culture development.
- Demonstrated capability in collaborative leadership and developing whole‑school leadership cultures.
- A deep commitment to anthroposophy and willingness to work from its principles.
- Registration as a teacher and experience in leading learning within a K–10 context.
You bring warmth, integrity, and a genuine love for supporting the unfolding of human potential.
Located in the beautiful Thora Valley near Bellingen, Chrysalis Steiner School offers a rich, land‑based educational experience for 221 students across two campuses. Our curriculum is grounded in Rudolf Steiner’s educational philosophy, supporting the intellectual, artistic, social, and physical development of each child.
