Are you an experienced lawyer with strong financial acumen and experience managing a small team?

We are delighted to be partnering with a well established professional member-based organisation in hiring an experienced lawyer to lead a specialist function responsible for complex investigations, statutory claims assessment, recoveries and stakeholder reporting.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior legal professional to combine technical legal expertise with people leadership, governance responsibilities and strategic policy involvement.

n

Reporting to a senior executive, you will manage a small team and oversee matters involving significant legal, financial and reputational considerations.

n

The Role

n

This position plays a critical role in the administration of a statutory compensation scheme and the assessment of claims involving alleged misconduct, financial loss and skilled obligations.

n

Key responsibilities include:

n

n
- Leading complex investigations and claims assessments.
n
- Managing a team of legal and investigation professionals.
n
- Preparing recommendations and reports for governance committees and senior decision makers.
n
- Overseeing recovery strategies and identifying opportunities to maximise recoveries.
n
- Monitoring fund performance and contributing to strategic planning.
n
- Working with senior stakeholders on policy development and legislative reform initiatives.
n




- Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and governance requirements.
n
- Driving process improvement and operational effectiveness.
n

About You

n

You are an experienced lawyer with strong leadership capabilities and a demonstrated ability to manage complex legal matters involving detailed factual investigations.

n

Backgrounds that may be particularly relevant include Commercial litigation, Professional indemnity, Financial services, Regulatory investigations, Government legal practice, trust and fiduciary disputes, and Wills and estates litigation.

n

You will also bring:

n

n
- An unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
n
- Excellent analytical and written communication abilities.
n
- Experience preparing high-level reports and recommendations.
n
- The ability to balance legal, commercial and public interest considerations.
n
- Previous people leadership experience.
n
