About the Role
Join HBF's Actuarial team as an Actuarial Intern, where you'll gain hands-on experience applying analytical and actuarial techniques to support key business decisions. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll contribute to reporting, forecasting and data analysis activities while building valuable exposure across a range of business functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging actuarial professional looking to develop practical experience in a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
In this role, you will:
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of regular management, regulatory and operational reports.
- Perform data analysis and actuarial modelling to support business initiatives and decision-making.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial models and forecasts.
- Provide analytical support and insights to stakeholders across the business.
- Participate in team projects and contribute to broader business initiatives as required.
- Help identify opportunities to improve business performance through data-driven recommendations.
About You
You're a curious and motivated individual with a passion for data, problem-solving and turning insights into action. You enjoy working collaboratively,
communicating complex information clearly and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced setting. With a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, you're eager to build your actuarial and commercial knowledge while making a meaningful contribution to the team.
Ideally, you will have:
- Progress towards a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Experience with Excel and exposure to SQL, SAS, Snowflake or similar analytical tools will be highly regarded.
