About the role
The City of Canning is seeking a Team Leader Construction to lead a crew in the City’s in-house concrete team.
Reporting to the Supervisor Construction Works, this full-time permanent position is a diverse and challenging Team Leader opportunity with responsibility to ensure the works crew are performing to meet the City’s annual construction and maintenance programs. This role is ideal for a leader experienced in balancing operational delivery of concrete, construction and maintenance work, and passionate about team development and workplace safety.
A snapshot of your new role:
- Overseeing delivery of works and crew under the direction of the Supervisor Construction Works
- Contributing to workplace safety through pre-starts, safety management plans, secure work procedures and hazard reporting
- Provide on-field leadership to a concrete crew
- Operating Medium Rigid vehicles
- Operating power tools and equipment
Who we’re looking for:
- Strong team leadership skills and ability to foster team accountability and collaboration
- Proven history in concrete, construction and maintenance works
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings
- Strong accountability and commitment to working safely
- Medium Rigid driver’s license (or willing to obtain within 6 months, funded by the City)
- HR driver’s license and mobile plant tickets highly desirable
- White Card
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months)

- $43.28 - $43.72 per hour + super + penalties for overtime and special projects night work
