JBU Group is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help grow our mechanical engineering capability across mining, industrial and infrastructure projects. This role suits an engineer who enjoys practical problem-solving in brownfield environments, plant interfaces, pumping and piping systems, and materials handling. You'll work directly with experienced engineers, project managers and directors, with real influence over technical outcomes and JBU's growing mechanical service offering.

What You'll Be Doing

Project scope

- Pumping systems, pump sizing and mechanical infrastructure upgrades.
- Water and slurry pipeline systems, hydraulic assessments and verification works.
- Mechanical plant modifications and brownfield industrial upgrades.
- Conveyors, chutes, bins, transfers and materials handling infrastructure.
- Prepare and review mechanical designs, calculations, technical reports and specifications.
- Assess existing systems, identify constraints and develop practical upgrade solutions.
- Support design reviews, risk assessments, Safety in Design and constructability reviews.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projects.

Client & team leadership

- Manage assigned project scopes, deliverables, budgets and programme commitments.
- Participate in client meetings, site investigations and technical workshops.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, and contribute to technical QA standards.
- Prepare technical inputs for proposals, fee estimates and project planning.

About You





You're a practical mechanical engineer who enjoys solving real-world problems. You're comfortable working with clients, coordinating across disciplines, and balancing technical quality with safety, cost and constructability.

Skills & Experience

- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years' experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in mining, industrial or consulting environments.
- Experience with pumps, piping systems, mechanical plant or materials handling infrastructure.
- Proven ability to prepare and review calculations, reports and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, client-facing and problem-solving skills.

Highly Regarded

- RPEQ registration or working towards registration.
- CPEng or progression towards Chartered status.
- Mining, resources, EPCM, brownfield or heavy industrial project experience.
- Experience with hydraulic assessments, slurry systems or pipeline verification.
- Experience with CAD model coordination or multidisciplinary design interfaces.
