Your experience is too valuable to leave at sea. Bring your maritime experience ashore.
ERGT is seeking experienced maritime professionals to join our training team as Trainers & Assessors. If you understand life at sea, offshore operations and the responsibility that comes with keeping people safe, we want to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to put your years of experience to work in a different way — sharing the knowledge, judgement and practical skills you've built at sea with the next generation of maritime professionals. You’ll earn a competitive salary, be home every night, and enjoy predictable hours and free weekends — while staying connected to the industry you know best.
If you’ve spent years standing watch, leading crews, managing emergencies, operating rescue craft, or conducting vessel operations, or have a background in the Royal Australian Navy, this is your opportunity to help shape the next generation of maritime professionals.
The opportunity
You’ll join a supportive and experienced training team that values professionalism, collaboration, and high-quality delivery. We combine hands-on teamwork with individual autonomy and trust experienced people to use sound judgement and initiative.
Your maritime background won’t just be relevant — it will be essential.
These programs rely on trainers with genuine blue water sea time , operational credibility, and firsthand experience in emergency response and vessel operations.
You must hold at least one of the following:
- Coxswain Grade 1 (minimum)

- Chief integrated rating
- Master 4, Master less than 100 metres near coastal, or Master Unlimited
Desirable (or willing to obtain):
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 / TAE40116)
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
- Defence experience (e.g., Navy/Army vessel sea time)
