About the role
The Local Hotel is seeking a talented Casual Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team in South Fremantle, WA 6162 . This is a casual position offering flexibility whilst contributing to the creation of outstanding culinary experiences for our guests. As a Casual Chef, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of food preparation and presentation that define The Local Hotel's reputation. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a team-oriented kitchen environment whilst building valuable experience in hospitality.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications

- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, food safety and kitchen cleanliness at all times

- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients

- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure dishes are prepared to the correct standard

- Plate and present dishes in an appealing manner, adhering to presentation guidelines

- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods

- Respond to feedback from chefs and kitchen management to continually improve performance

- Support the kitchen team with general maintenance and organisation of equipment and workstations

- Contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal specials

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working in a skilled kitchen or hospitality environment, with grill and pan experience

- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, with relevant certification preferred





- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods

- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team

- Attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work

- Flexibility with shifts, including weekends and evenings

- Willingness to learn and develop your culinary skills

- Understanding of various cooking techniques and methods

- A positive attitude and genuine passion for hospitality
