Role Description
The Electrical Leading Hand is a responsible for leading electrical maintenance and repair work across our our Fixed Plant crushing and screening operations at Mining Area C in the Pilbara. The role supports the MEM Supervisor with planning and overseeing daily tasks, ensuring all work is done safely and in line with relevant mining and electrical legislation.

This is a hands-on position that includes ensuring the safe and effective management of the electrical systems running the plant, mentoring the team, troubleshooting breakdowns, and working closely with other departments to contribute to the successful delivery of departmental objectives and KPIs.

This position is offered on a full time basis, working 12 hours per day on 8 (dayshifts) on, 6 days off, roster at our Geoscience Project outside of Newman WA.

Role Requirements

- Carry out all statutory inspections, checks, testing and recording as required.

- Carry out required maintenance as per the electrical maintenance schedule.

- Assist technicians in the development of Work packs and risk assessments.

- Providing ongoing leadership and mentoring for the team.

- Rectify all breakdowns safely and efficiently.

- Conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on large scale fixed plant machinery and equipment.





- Ensure all Electrical Installation complies with the relevant statutory requirements.

- Monitor spare parts on site and ensure stock is sufficient for the effective operation of the plant.

- Maintenance and fault finding of low voltage variable speed drives.

- Maintenance of PLC systems, Citect, and Scada control systems.

- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping such as cleaning out the Sub Stations, Electrical Cabinets and also including cleaning of Company buildings and vehicles where required.

- Assisting maintenance workers with maintenance and servicing of Plant and Equipment during shutdowns and breakdowns.

- Control and operation of the Crushing Plant, when required, including inspection & checking of Plant and Equipment and recording of Plant operating parameters and other relevant information as required on Log sheets.

- Completion of any other tasks and activities, including but not limited to Mobile and Fixed Plant Operations, within your competency as directed by the Site Leadership Team.

Essential experience & qualifications:

- Minimum 12 months demonstrated previous experience performing maintenance duties within a Crushing Plant or similar Fixed Plant environment.

- Minimum 12 months experience as an Electrician, with demonstrated ability to coordinate work activities and support other team members in a Leading Hand capacity.

- Minimum 2 years mining/heavy experience as an Electrician

- Current Western Australian “A” Grade Electrical Licence

- Current Manual C Class or above Drivers Licence

- High Voltage (HV) Switching Ticket

- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training.

Skills Required:

- Proven ability to lead, supervise and motivate a team of electricians and apprentices

- Self-motivated, observant and diligent tradesperson, capable of working with minimal supervision.





- Strong knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance, testing and fault finding

- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and specifications

- Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards, WHS requirements and safe work practices

- Ability to carry out work instructions and directives to provide satisfactory outcomes.

- Ability to work within a team environment to achieve desired results.

- Proven fault finding and problem-solving skills.

Please note - This role requires certain physical demands and exposure to challenging environments. These demands may involve lifting, pushing, pulling, work at heights and other exertions associated with manual roles

Desirable qualifications:

- Current MRL and/or BHP induction status

- CPPFES2005 – Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment

- RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights

- RIIWHS202E – Enter and work in confined spaces

- CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (Construction “White card”)

- HLTAID011 – Provide first aid

- MSMWHS217 – Gas test atmospheres

- RIIIHAN301E - Operate Elevating Work Platform

- 4WD/Defensive Driving (such as RIIVEH305F: Operate and Maintain a 4WD Vehicle, RIIVEH201E: Operate a Light Vehicle)

- TLIC1051 – Operate commercial vehicle

- HV Switching ticket

- High Risk Working Licence – HRWL (DG, RB, CN, WP).

Additional requirements:

- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screen

- Hold, or willing to obtain a National Police Clearance valid within 12 months

- Ability to complete online inductions
