In this role, Youth Worker plays a vital role in supporting young people with disability and complex support needs to achieve positive social, educational, vocational, and personal outcomes.
Working within a person-centred and strengths-based framework, the position focuses on mentoring, advocacy, behavioural support, life skills development, and community engagement to promote independence and improve overall wellbeing. Task & responsibilities Assess the social, emotional, behavioural and developmental needs of young people and identify appropriate support strategies. Develop, implement and regularly review individualised youth support plans that align with participants' goals and aspirations. Provide mentoring, coaching and guidance to promote resilience, confidence, independence and positive decision-making.
Deliver structured life skills programs focusing on communication, budgeting, cooking, travel training, problem-solving, self-advocacy and independent living. Support young people to engage in education, vocational training,
employment pathways and meaningful community participation. Facilitate recreational, cultural and community-based activities that encourage social inclusion and relationship building.
Provide behavioural support, early intervention and crisis response strategies while promoting positive coping mechanisms. Advocate on behalf of young people to ensure access to appropriate community, educational, health and government services. Liaise and collaborate with families, schools, psychologists, allied health professionals, support coordinators and external agencies to achieve coordinated support outcomes.
Monitor participant progress, prepare case notes, reports and referrals, and maintain accurate records in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements. Assist young people in identifying strengths, setting realistic goals and developing practical strategies to achieve greater independence and long-term wellbeing. Promote participant rights, dignity, cultural inclusion and safeguarding principles while maintaining skilled boundaries and ethical practice.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, professional development activities and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Ensure all services are delivered in accordance with the NDIS Practice Standards, child safeguarding requirements, workplace health and safety legislation,
and organisational policies and procedures. Qualification & experience AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma or a closely related field is required.
Minimum 1 years of full-time or equivalent professional experience Valid Driver's License with a registered Vehicle First Aid and CPR certification, police check and Working with Children Check / DHS – DCSI – Disability Employment Screening Clearance / NDIS Worker Check or willing to complete when requested.
Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident Visa holder are encouraged to apply Excellent organization and team management skills. Ability to work and blend in a team. Adhere to industrial compliance requirements.
