About the role

The Greek Language Teacher - Secondary is responsible for delivering high-quality Greek language education in secondary schools that promotes linguistic proficiency, cultural understanding and a lifelong appreciation of Hellenic heritage. The role supports students to develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Up-to-date Greek while fostering an understanding of Greek history, traditions, values and contemporary culture. The teacher contributes to preserving and strengthening Greek language and cultural identity within the Western Australian community. The Greek Language Teacher – Secondary creates an engaging, inclusive and student-centred learning environment that aligns with the school's educational philosophy, curriculum requirements and the mission of the Hellenic Community of Western Australia.

Key responsibilities

- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Greek language lessons aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and relevant educational frameworks for secondary school students

- Develop student competency in speaking, listening, reading and writing Modern Greek

- Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of diverse students

- Use a variety of teaching methodologies and technologies to enhance student engagement and achievement

- Prepare lesson plans, teaching resources and assessment materials

- Establish a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning and participation

- Assess, monitor and record student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and families

- Prepare and deliver timely,



accurate reports and feedback in accordance with school requirements

- Promote Greek culture, traditions, customs and history through classroom learning and community activities

- Support and participate in cultural events, celebrations and commemorations including Greek Independence Day, OXI Day, Greek Language and Cultural Festivals, and School and Community Celebrations

About you

- Current Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) registration

- Accredited Teaching Qualification at tertiary (Bachelor degree) level or equivalent

- Current Working with Children Check

- National Police Clearance

- Evidence of right to work in Australia

- Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written Modern Greek

- Experience teaching Greek as a first or second language in a secondary school setting

- Experience preparing students for Greek language examinations

- Knowledge of Greek history, culture, literature and traditions

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
