Technical Sales Specialist | Pilbara Mining Accounts

We are currently working with an established supplier of specialised wear solutions to the Australian mining industry, with long-standing relationships across some of WA's major mining operations.

They are looking for a technically minded sales professional to take ownership of an established portfolio of mining customers across the Pilbara.

While you'll inherit established accounts and existing customer relationships, this is not a maintenance-only account management role. You'll be expected to understand each customer's operation, build relationships across site and head office, identify opportunities to increase product usage and actively grow the existing portfolio across the region.

You'll need to be familiar with the Pilbara mining region and have previous experience selling into mining customers across the area. An understanding of the major mining operations, site environment and the way mining organisations operate will be important.

You'll spend approximately one week each month travelling to Pilbara mine sites, with the remainder of your time based in Perth managing your accounts, quotations, customer requirements and pipeline.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for a portfolio of established mining accounts, becoming a trusted technical contact while actively looking for opportunities to grow revenue and increase account penetration across the Pilbara.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing and developing relationships with major mining customers across the Pilbara
- Growing established accounts and identifying opportunities to increase product usage
- Developing relationships at both mine site and head office level
- Regularly visiting customers and mine sites across the region
- Understanding customers' operations, equipment and wear applications
- Identifying customer requirements and recommending appropriate technical solutions




- Developing opportunities across existing, lapsed and prospective customers
- Working with maintenance, reliability, engineering, procurement and commercial stakeholders
- Managing quotations, customer enquiries and orders
- Developing a clear pipeline of opportunities across your territory
- Planning your regional travel and managing the territory autonomously

About You

We're looking for someone with technical credibility, strong mining relationships and genuine experience selling into the Pilbara.

You may come from a:

- Mechanical engineering or mechanical trade background and moved into sales
- Technical sales environment
- Mining equipment or consumables business
- Wear products / wear solutions
- Pumps, valves or rotating equipment
- Bearings, conveyors or power transmission
- Engineering or industrial products

You'll ideally have:

- Previous experience selling to mining customers in the Pilbara
- An established understanding of the Pilbara mining region and its customer base
- Experience managing relationships at both mine site and head office level
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to have credible conversations with engineers and maintenance teams
- A proven ability to grow existing mining accounts and identify new opportunities within them
- A consultative, commercially focused sales approach
- Strong organisation and follow-up skills
- The confidence to work autonomously across a large territory
- Willingness to travel to the Pilbara approximately one week per month
