Jungle Sports
Perth
Jungle Sports has been running children’s multi-sport programs across Perth since 2003. We deliver high-energy, age-appropriate and fun programs to children aged 18 months to 8 years, introducing them to 10 different sports, through term time classes, holiday camps and birthday parties.
We are well established in the communities we serve, with families coming back to us year after year. At the heart of that is our coaches. They are the people who create the experience families know us for, and building, developing and supporting a great coaching team is critical to where we go next.
We’re now hiring a Coach & Delivery Lead to take ownership of our coaching team and help us grow.
This is a leadership role rather than a coaching one. You will be building and running our coaching team, with coaching only when we’re short.
You will have plenty of autonomy, working directly with the owners and have a real say in how we build the team for the next stage of Jungle Sports.
What you will do
Lead coach recruitment and build a pipeline of coaches ready to step in when we need them. Develop strong relationships with schools, universities, clubs and anywhere good coaches can be found.
Build the team that supports our growth. We want to run more after school programs and birthday parties. You will make sure we have the right coaches, in the right places, at the right times to make that possible.
Set a high coaching standard and help the team keep raising it. You will observe every coach deliver a session at least once a term, provide constructive feedback, and support their ongoing development. Many of our coaches have been with us for years, and we want to keep building a team that people are proud to be part of.
Induct current coaches and make sure they’re confident before being signed off to be an Assistant Coach or a Lead Coach.
Own the coaching roster and make sure every class is staffed.
You will also oversee our venues too: confirming bookings ahead of each term, deciding what we need, and finding solutions when a venue or coach is unavailable.
Build a strong coaching community. Regular check-ins, occasional meet-ups, and being the person coaches actually want to call when they need support.
Be available on Saturday mornings until around 9am, by which point we know whether everything is running smoothly. Occasionally, you may need to step in to cover a session yourself. Build the substitute bench well and it should be rare.
What we’re looking for
- Experience coaching sport to children, whether in a club, school or program setting.
- Experience leading, mentoring or training other coaches.
- Someone who can give clear and constructive feedback face to face.
- Someone who stays calm under pressure and naturally moves into problem solving mode when something changes at the last minute.
- A current Working with Children Check, or willing to apply before you start.
- Driver’s licence and a car.
- Available on Saturday mornings.
What’s in it
This is an influential role with lots of flexibility and ownership, there is space to make a real difference.
You will receive:
- $40 an hour, plus holiday pay, plus super
- Permanent part-time employment (12 hours a week)
- Additional coaching hours available if you want them
- Real autonomy to shape how the coaching team is recruited, trained and supported
- Working directly with the owners with support to table your ideas
- Flexibility around when most of your hours are worked to fit around your own commitments
- A role where you can have a visible impact on both the team and the growth of the business
If you enjoy coaching but are ready to step into more of a leadership role, helping others develop their skills, solving problems and creating a team that delivers consistently, we would love to hear from you.
