Description

Responsibilities
- Participate in site selection reviews, work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements, and work with internal teams to understand user requirements.
- Design and collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set.
- Create designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment including Air Handling Units, Computer Room Air Handling Units, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Sequence of Operations & Controls systems, Fire Detection/Suppression systems
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases.
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical systems.
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers and Operations. This position will involve 20% travel within APAC region and occasionally globally.
About The Team
The Data Center Design Engineering team at Amazon Web Services consists of Architects, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection and Controls Engineers working to design the next generation of Data Centres. The team is committed to achieving a world-class uptime for our customers and strives to develop a fleet of buildings emphasizing security, safety, and efficiency, while finding current ways to meet our growing demand.
We justify and communicate the technical decisions we make directly to AWS leadership and work hard to drive continuous advancements in our designs. As an integral member of the team, you will have the opportunity to directly impact our business and create positive change.
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
