This role will provide high-level cardiac genetic counselling services while leading and supporting the integration of genomics into cardiology services within Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Genetic Counsellor - Senior (Cardiac Genomics) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

- Lead and support the integration of genomics into cardiology services
- Provide high-level cardiac genetic counselling services
- Be apart of a multi-disciplinary clinical team to improve diagnostic uncertainty and reduce patient anxiety
- Assist in mainstreaming genetic testing to increase access for our patients across Gold Coast Health

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

- Tertiary degree in Genetic Counselling
- Human Genetics Society of Australasia registration
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for current employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary





- Permanent part time (16 hours per fortnight)
- Base salary ranging from $64.64 - $69.55 per hour

About Us
The multi-disciplinary clinical team will consist of a cardiologist, genetic counsellor and cardiology clinical nurse consultant to allow genetic evaluation of patients and to support referring cardiologists to improve diagnostic uncertainty and reduce patient anxiety. They will also assist in mainstreaming genetic testing to increase access for patients across Gold Coast Health.
