As Coordinator – Brinkley Reuse Centre, you will lead and support our volunteers, connect with the local community and help reduce waste through reuse and recycling.
Position Overview
The Coordinator – Brinkley Reuse Centre leads the day-to-day operations of the Centre, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused service delivery. The role supports a diverse volunteer team, fosters community participation and social inclusion, and contributes to the Centre’s continued growth and development as a valued community space.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to Unit Manager - Environment and Waste, responsibilities of this role include:
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Brinkley Reuse Centre, including retail, hospitality and customer service activities.
- Manage donated goods, including assessment, stock control, merchandising, repurposing and up-cycling.
- Lead and support the Centre’s diverse volunteer team, fostering participation and social inclusion.
- Build community partnerships and coordinate programs, activities and events that promote reuse, recycling and waste reduction.
- Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities, including grant funding, to grow the Centre’s activities and community value.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in a supervisory or coordinator role within an operational, retail, community service or similar customer-focused environment.
- Strong people leadership skills, with experience supporting and motivating a diverse team of volunteers and/or staff in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing operational priorities and use initiative.
- Excellent communication, community engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- An understanding of reuse, recycling, waste reduction, and circular economy principles, together with sound WHS and risk management practices and an understanding of local government operations and administrative practices.
A current Class C Driver's Licence is essential. You will also require a current First Aid Certificate and National Police Check, or the ability/willingness to obtain these.

This is a full-time position working Tuesday to Saturday, in line with the Brinkley Reuse Centre’s operating days. The role is diverse and hands-on, involving indoor and outdoor work, some physical activity, and community outreach and engagement.
This is an ongoing contract at General Officer Level 5 in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $103,322.96 to $107,873.48 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
