The team is undertaking a major initiative to migrate a large, mission-critical microservices platform to the cloud and establish a full-service mesh. You will play a key role in building platform capabilities, developing automation, creating reusable engineering patterns, evaluating new tools and technologies, and supporting the migration of existing workloads.
n
This role is ideal for a polyglot engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working across large codebases, automating repetitive processes, and building platforms that enable developers to deliver high-quality software efficiently.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Design, build, and continuously improve a modern internal developer platform that provides an excellent developer experience.
n
- Develop automation, tooling, libraries, and reusable application archetypes to accelerate software delivery.
n
- Support the migration of existing microservices workloads to cloud environments.
n
- Work with containerised workloads and help establish and evolve Kubernetes and service mesh capabilities.
n
- Investigate and evaluate new tools, technologies, and engineering practices to improve the platform.
n
- Improve build, deployment, CI/CD, and developer tooling processes.
n
- Enable developers to focus on delivering quality software by reducing technical complexity and operational overhead.
n
- Implement robust security practices, patterns,
and technologies across the platform.
n
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure platform capabilities meet developer and customer needs.
n
- Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams and keep stakeholders informed of progress and technical developments.
n
- Contribute to building a strong and vibrant technical community through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
n
- Ensure solutions are automated, tested, documented, and production-ready.
n
- Follow strong Agile and DevOps practices throughout the software development and path-to-production lifecycle.
n
n
Skills & Experience
n
n
- 3–5+ years of professional software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or related experience.
n
- Strong experience working with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS or Azure.
n
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerised workloads.
n
- Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, or similar is highly desirable.
n
- Strong understanding of cloud security practices, patterns, and technologies.
n
- Passion for system automation and infrastructure as code.
n
- Experience with automation technologies and scripting languages such as Python and/or Ansible is advantageous.
n
- Strong understanding and practical experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CI/CD) at scale.
n
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and the path to production.
n
- Ability to work across polyglot technology environments and quickly learn new programming languages and technologies.
n
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to understand and navigate complex, large-scale codebases.
n
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for working as part of a technical engineering community.
n
n
What We're Looking For
n
You are someone who:
n
n
- Enjoys tackling complex technical challenges.
n
- Takes pride in delivering high-quality, reliable solutions.
n
- Learns new technologies and development languages quickly.
n
- Believes that engineering work should be automated, tested, documented, and continuously improved.
n
- Cares deeply about developer experience and building platforms that engineers genuinely enjoy using.
n
- Is passionate about cloud technologies, automation, DevOps, and up-to-date platform engineering.
n
- Enjoys contributing to the wider technical community through knowledge sharing, meetups, side projects, or open-source contributions.
n
n
Pay: $700.00 – $750.00 per day
