This position is ideal for a motivated and adaptable professional who enjoys working with people, coordinating activities and contributing to organisational success. The role provides a unique opportunity to develop a broad understanding of how a national cultural institution operates within the Australian Government workplace. You will gain exposure to governance, planning, policy, risk, reporting, assurance, Council and Committee processes, and the delivery of whole-of-agency priorities, including the National Gallery’s Reconciliation Action Plan.

Sitting within the Chief Operating Officer Portfolio, the Governance team is responsible for Council secretariat, First Nations engagement, risk management, and organisational performance and reporting, among other functions. It is a dynamic team with a diverse and engaging range of work that connects with every part of the business.

As Corporate Governance Advisor, you will be a corporate governance generalist who coordinates governance processes, supports senior decision-makers and helps connect people, information and accountability frameworks across the National Gallery. You will work collaboratively with teams across the organisation to support effective governance, organisational performance and continuous improvement.

You will build highly transferable skills in stakeholder engagement, written communication, coordination, problem solving, briefing, records management and project support while working with senior management, Council and Committee members, and external governance specialists.

The key duties of the position include:

In accordance with the APS 6 work level standards, you will:

- Coordinate and support corporate governance activities across the National Gallery, working collaboratively with stakeholders to support effective decision-making, organisational performance and the delivery of governance priorities.
- Provide governance support to Council, Committees and advisory groups, including coordination of meetings, travel arrangements, stakeholder engagement and associated governance processes including coordination of internal audit activities and recommendation tracking.
- Develop and maintain corporate governance systems, processes and reporting, including the preparation of briefings, reports, tracking registers, correspondence, records, templates, coordination of Senate Estimates briefings and responses, and other governance documentation.
- Coordinate and support the implementation of the National Gallery's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), working collaboratively with stakeholders to monitor progress, support reporting and contribute to the National Gallery's reconciliation commitments.
- Provide practical corporate governance advice and contribute to continuous improvement, supporting stakeholders across the organisation and helping to strengthen governance capability,



systems and services.

Eligibility

Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the National Gallery, you must be an Australian citizen.
