Position Title: Science Teacher
Hours (FTE): Full time, ongoing. Commencing January 2027.
INTRODUCTION TO THE COLLEGE
Mother Teresa Catholic College is a Catholic co-educational College registered to enrol students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 in the extensive and rapidly growing suburb of Baldivis, situated about 60 kilometres South of Perth in the City of Rockingham. Mother Teresa Catholic College is an inclusive learning community. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
- Support the Catholic ethos of our College and act in a manner supportive of our mission
- Actively contribute towards the maintenance of the Catholic ethos of the College through a manner of life and stated beliefs that are in keeping with the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Provide direction, supervision and care for students
- Deliver the curriculum with passion an innovation
- Maintain professional standards
- Effectively engage and manage students.
REQUIRED SKILLS (SELECTION CRITERIA)
- Exhibit personal interest and encourage student interest in Science.
- Maintain a current awareness of literature/activities in Science.
- Appropriately demonstrate the correct use of Science equipment in the classroom setting.
- Indicate to students’ safety standards in a variety of experiments. A familiarity with ‘Risk Assess’ software is helpful.
- Have a strong and active personal faith commitment.
- Be passionate about teaching and committed to continuous professional growth and development.
- Be dedicated to the advancement of each student’s holistic development and committed to providing the highest standard of care and education.
- Be willing to be involved in the life of the College, including involvement in out-of- school activities.
- Be flexible, enthusiastic and able to work collaboratively with colleagues and participate in inter-disciplinary planning and pedagogy.
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, communication skills and proficiency in integrating technology into the daily classroom environment.
- Have knowledge of and willingness to embrace and facilitate inquiry-learning pedagogy and collaborate with colleagues in the planning, session facilitation and evaluation of Challenge Based Learning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BEd/BSci (with DipEd) or higher degree (required)
with a major in one or more of the following areas: Biology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, Relevant four-year tertiary qualification
- Current TRBWA Registration
- Successful applicants will require a Working with Children Check
