$45.50–$47.50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, plus 12% superannuation, applicable penalties and salary packaging.

About the Opportunity

Alzheimer’s Queensland is seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Dementia Respite Assistant to join our Gordon Park Multi Service Centre.

This varied, hands-on role combines direct client support with team guidance and service coordination. You will work with clients at the centre and in community settings while supporting the Regional Services Manager with referrals, introductory visits, activity planning and daily centre operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aged care or dementia support skilled ready to step into a senior role without moving away from direct client care.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Deliver person-centred care and meaningful engagement in centre-based and community settings.
- Support clients with personal care, mobility, meals, transport and activities.
- Assist with client referrals, enquiries, assessments and introductory centre visits.
- Help new clients and families transition into services.
- Plan engaging centre activities, outings and individual programs.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to care employees.
- Assist with the orientation and buddying of new team members.
- Maintain accurate client records and progress notes using VisualCare.
- Identify and escalate changes in client needs, wellbeing or behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with families and AQ’s multidisciplinary team.

About You

You are an experienced and dependable care professional who enjoys supporting clients and helping colleagues provide high-quality care.

You will bring:

- Certificate IV in Individual Support or Support Coordination, Aged Care, Disability or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 24 months’ relevant experience, preferably supporting people living with dementia.
- A strong understanding of person-centred and community-based care.
- The ability to guide and support other care employees positively.
- Strong communication, organisation and activity-planning skills.
- Full Australian working rights.
- A current driver licence and reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate or current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
