- Planning menus, taking account of the establishment's style of cuisine, equipment, staff and clientele, and estimating food and labour costs
- Ordering food supplies and negotiating with suppliers to secure quality ingredients within budget

- Periodically inspecting the kitchen, food storage and preparation areas, and reviewing food supplies to ensure quality and freshness
- Enforcing hygiene, health and safety regulations and food safety standards (including HACCP-based food safety programs) throughout the kitchen
- Selecting, training, rostering and supervising kitchen staff, including cooks, apprentices and kitchenhands
- Conferring with managers to plan menus for special occasions, functions and seasonal changes
- Freezing and preserving foods for later use in accordance with food safety guidelines
- Maintaining kitchen equipment and coordinating basic maintenance and repairs
- Controlling stock levels, minimising wastage and managing portion control to meet food cost targets

Task & responsibilities
Summary of Position:
Organize and control the operations of the kitchen to ensure a memorable dining experience for our patrons. Duties in brief include:

Qualification & experience
To be successful in the role, you will need to have:
- Appropriate qualifications such as AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma [ANZSCO Skill Level 2] at a minimum.
- A minimum of at least 2-years of formal experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- At least 1-year prior experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude with a robust work ethic and good communication skills.
- The ability to work well within a team environment and under pressure.
- Availability to work days, nights, and weekends, and have your own reliable transport.
- An ability and desire to work morning, late evening, and weekend shifts.
