Swinburne Student Association is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gym Manager to oversee the operations of our on-campus fitness hub, 'Flex by SSA' - https://www.flexbyssa.com.au/
This role, based at the Hawthorn campus, will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our fitness hub and providing an exceptional experience for student members.
Our new operating model is tailored to when Swinburne students use the gym.
The role is offered on a casual basis with shifts from 2pm to 7pm on Mondays to Fridays. We're also open to a permanent part-time option (please indicate your interest in the cover letter)
What you'll be doing
- Conduct health and fitness assessments and support Swinburne students (and alumni members)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming training workplace by completing daily cleaning checklists.
- Support day-to-day operations, including administration and customer service.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
- Liaising with the wider Swinburne Student Association team to plan and deliver engaging fitness events and initiatives
What we're looking for
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Certificate III & IV in Fitness or equivalent qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Sport Science, Exercise Science, or Clinical Practice highly regarded).
- Current registration with a recognised fitness body (e.g. AUSactive, ESSA, FitRec, orASCA)
- Proven experience in a gym management or gym setting environment
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of the fitness industry and trends, as well as relevant health and safety regulations
- A passion for health, wellbeing, and supporting the student community.
