Otas Consulting Pty Ltd – Chatswood West NSWOtas Consulting Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Town Planner to join our team on a contract basis.
Based in our Chatswood office or work from home, this role offers the opportunity to work on diverse urban design and planning projects that shape communities and contribute to sustainable development.
As a Town Planner, you will play a crucial role in developing planning strategies, analysing land use patterns, and providing expert guidance on urban development proposals.
This position is integral to delivering high-quality planning solutions that balance community needs with strategic growth objectives.What you'll be doingPreparing and reviewing planning reports, development applications, and strategic planning documentsConducting site analysis and feasibility studies for proposed urban development projectsLiaising with local government authorities, stakeholders, and community groups to ensure compliance with planning regulations and policiesEvaluating land use patterns and identifying opportunities for sustainable urban developmentProviding expert advice on planning compliance, zoning requirements, and regulatory frameworksContributing to the preparation of strategic plans, masterplans, and urban design frameworksAnalysing demographic and economic data to inform planning recommendationsCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams including architects,



engineers, and environmental specialistsAttending meetings and presenting planning concepts to clients and government bodiesWhat we're looking forA recognised qualification in town planning, urban planning, or a related discipline (Bachelor's degree or equivalent)Professional registration or eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) or equivalent professional bodyMinimum 5+ years of professional experience in urban design, town planning, or related planning rolesDemonstrated knowledge of planning legislation, building codes, and development assessment processes in New South WalesStrong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex planning documents and policiesExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiencesProficiency in relevant planning software and GIS systemsA thorough understanding of sustainable urban design principles and contemporary planning practiceStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrentlyExperience in stakeholder engagement and community consultationIf you are an experienced Town Planner looking for a contract chance with a respected consulting firm, we would like to hear from you.
