We invest in our people and foster a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported and able to contribute and grow.About The RoleThe Facilities and Security team is seeking a Community Safety Officer to support safety and asset protection across key Council facilities.In this role, you will patrol and monitor designated Council sites, helping to maintain secure, welcoming and well-managed environments for the community.
You will contribute to preventing asset loss or damage, support the effective use of security systems, and respond to incidents as they arise.You will also engage with community members, visitors and staff - provide assistance, sharing information and contributing to a positive experience across Council precincts.This is a visible, community-facing role that combines on-the-ground presence with sound judgement, communication and problem-solving.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will bring:Experience in community safety, security, compliance or a related fieldThe ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with a wide range of peopleSound judgement and a calm, proactive approach in dynamic or sensitive situationsA commitment to maintaining safe, inclusive and welcoming environmentsThe ability to work both independently and as part of a teamYou may have experience in security, public safety,



community services or enforcement.
We value practical experience, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust while maintaining professional boundaries.We encourage applications from people who may not meet every requirement but can demonstrate relevant skills, capability and a willingness to learn.Key RequirementsCurrent Security Guard licence (Unarmed Guard and/or Control Room Operator)Experience in security, community safety, compliance or a related fieldAbility to respond to incidents, assess risk and apply sound judgementStrong communication skills and ability to engage respectfully with diverse community membersAvailability to work evenings, weekends and overtime as requiredCurrent Victorian Driver's LicenceFirst Aid Level 2 and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)Desirable (we Will Support You To Build These)Qualification in Criminal Justice, Security, Risk Management or a related fieldCertificate III/IV in Security and Risk ManagementExperience interpreting legislation, regulations or enforcement processesExperience working in public sector or community-facing environmentsExperience using security systems, reporting tools or control room operationsApplicants with criminal history are not automatically excluded.
