Macquarie University is seeking a Governance Officer to join the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students), supporting the consistent and compliant management of student matters across the University.This is a student-facing role requiring full-time, on-campus presence.
It is a fixed term contract until 2 April ****.About the RoleAs the Governance Officer, you will provide practical advice, guidance, and implementation support to ensure student-related processes align with University policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with staff, students, and key stakeholders to strengthen governance practices and support clear, consistent approaches to student matters.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide systems and governance advice, guidance, and support to PVC (DoS) staff managing student matters, ensuring alignment with University frameworks and reporting requirementsManage and triage complaints, misconduct matters, and student enquiries, providing clear and timely guidance on relevant policies, procedures, and processesProvide secretariat and administrative support, including coordinating meetings and preparing agendas, briefing materials, and documentationBuild and maintain effective relationships with students and key stakeholders, and contribute to the development of resources and support materialsSupport governance and compliance activities,
including student group governance, data collection, reporting, and adherence to relevant regulations, rules, and policiesCollate and analyse information, and prepare briefings and reports to inform decision-makingAbout UsThe Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students) sits within the broader student experience portfolio at Macquarie University, working to ensure students have the support, resources and governance structures they need to participate fully in university life.

You are proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities within tight deadlines.Selection CriteriaDegree or equivalent experience in governance, compliance, administration, or a related disciplineDemonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and governance frameworksExperience managing or triaging complex matters, enquiries, or complaintsStrong communication skills,
