Are you an experienced Domestic & Family Violence practitioner looking for an opportunity to use your specialist knowledge to support women experiencing domestic violence and homelessness?
We are seeking an experienced Program Worker – Domestic & Family Violence supporting women and families across the Northern Rivers.
This is a hands‐on practice-focused role requiring a strong understanding of Domestic & Family Violence (DFV), homelessness, risk management and the practical supports available to women experiencing violence.
About the Role Working across services in Lismore, Tweed Heads and Ballina, you will provide specialist DFV knowledge and practice support while assisting Team Leaders with the effective delivery of services.
You will work with women experiencing complex and challenging circumstances, helping them navigate immediate safety concerns, homelessness and the broader financial and practical impacts of domestic and family violence.
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing specialist DFV practice knowledge and support within a Specialist Homelessness Service.
Supporting effective risk identification, assessment and management for women experiencing domestic and family violence.
Providing practical support and guidance around the financial assistance, funding and other supports available to women experiencing DFV.
Working confidently and sensitively through complex and challenging interactions.
Supporting Team Leaders with the delivery of high-quality, trauma‐informed services.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and relevant external services to achieve positive outcomes for women and families.
Contributing to consistent, safe and evidence‐informed DFV practice across the service.
Travelling between Lismore, Tweed Heads and Ballina as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings robust, demonstrated experience in the Domestic & Family Violence sector and can confidently apply that expertise in practice.
You will ideally have:
Significant experience working within Domestic & Family Violence services, ideally with exposure to Specialist Homelessness Services.
Strong knowledge of contemporary DFV practice and the complexities facing women experiencing violence.
Experience assessing and managing risk and responding appropriately to safety concerns.
A sound understanding of the financial, housing and practical supports available to women experiencing DFV.
Confidence managing complex situations and challenging interactions with empathy, professionalism and appropriate boundaries.
The ability to provide practice guidance and support to Team Leaders and colleagues.
Strong communication, relationship‐building and stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability and willingness to travel across Lismore, Tweed Heads and Ballina.
