About the role
n
The primary objective of the Qualified Train Driver Assistant position is to provide operational support to the Train Driver in a way that ensures protected and efficient train operation in accordance with QLRS, track access provider, regulator and siding owner rules and procedures.
n

Duties include:
n
n
Apply safe working rules and regulations to assist with rail operations
n
Identify and ensure the correct response to signals and signs
n
Process workplace documentation
n
Apply accident emergency procedures
n
Follow occupational health and safety procedures
n
Shift materials safely using manual handling methods
n
Apply fatigue management strategies
n
Shunt rolling stock
n
Participate in basic workplace communications
n
Secure cargo
n
Carry out a train roll-by inspection
n
Assist in meeting the requirements of train operations in a timely, safe, efficient and punctual manner
n
Participate in training,



briefing sessions and toolbox talks associated with safe and efficient train operations
n
Meet QLRS hazard and near miss reporting requirements
n
Comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols and rules in order to facilitate the delivery of safe and efficient train operations
n

About you
n
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following;
n
n
Available to work across a 24/7 shift work roster
n
Technical or trade background - preferred but not essential
n
Recent drivers licence history requiredWork collaboratively and harmoniously as a part of a team
n
Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
n
Flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
n
Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately orally and in writing
n
Must be fit for work with a good level of fitness and general health
n
n
You must also hold the below qualification as a minimum to be eligible for this role.

TLIB **** Apply awareness of railway fundamentals

TLIF **** Follow work health and safety procedures
