Position Description - Data Operations Lead
n
The Data Operations Lead will provide leadership and operational oversight of an enterprise data environment, working within a well-regarded consultancy. The role is responsible for leading and supporting a team of 10 data professionals, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, securely, and in alignment with ITIL best practices.
n
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in AWS and Databricks, combined with proven operational management experience, to maintain high levels of service availability and performance.
n
Responsibilities
n
n
Lead, mentor, and support a team of 10 data engineers and consultants.
n
Manage day-to-day operations of enterprise data platforms across AWS and Databricks.
n
Implement and enforce operational standards, governance, and service management processes aligned with ITIL certification.
n
Monitor and optimise data platform performance, ensuring scalability and reliability.
n
Coordinate incident, problem, and change management activities to minimise business impact.
n
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational requirements are met.
n
Drive continuous improvement across operational processes and data service delivery.
n
Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks,



and operational procedures.
n
Provide reporting and insights on service performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
n
Stable and secure enterprise data environment with minimal downtime.
n
Adherence to ITIL processes and compliance with operational governance standards.
n
Consistent delivery of high-quality support services to stakeholders.
n
A motivated and high-performing data operations team.
n
Continuous improvements in operational efficiency and platform performance.
n

Skills and Experience Required
n
n
Proven experience in leading data operations teams within an enterprise environment.
n
Strong expertise in AWS cloud services and Databricks.
n
ITIL certification (mandatory).
n
Experience managing incidents, problems, changes, and service requests in line with ITIL.
n
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
n
Ability to balance operational priorities with strategic improvement initiatives.
n
Experience in building, managing, and developing high-performing teams.
n
Consultancy or professional services experience.
n
Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
n
Familiarity with other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) or contemporary data tools.
