Position Information
Dunedoo Central School (DCS) is situated in a small, rural community 80 km north of Mudgee and 90 km east of Dubbo.
Located in the Warrumbungle Region, the town motto 'Where People Make the Difference' encapsulates the spirit of our tight-knit, resilient town.
The school provides a quality education from Kindergarten to Year 12, with a population of 153 students, including 27% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and we continually strive to live up to our motto 'Our Best Always'.
The school boasts a staff of 21 teachers and 19 support staff who offer personalised learning opportunities within a rich and varied curriculum.
As a central school, there is a strong emphasis placed on a sense of family and community, regular whole school activities, as well as a wide variety of extracurricular, high potential and gifted and cultural events.
We seek a Head Teacher, Teaching & Learning, who can contribute to a collaborative central school environment, working closely with the executive team.
This role will be fundamental to the design and delivery of professional learning and activities that support teachers' abilities to deliver high quality instruction that improves all student outcomes.
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated ability to lead teaching and learning across a central school setting, fostering collaboration and supporting staff to improve student outcomes K-12.
Extensive knowledge of curriculum development, implementation, and assessment practices aligned with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Demonstrated ability/willingness to use student data and evidence-based strategies to inform teaching, plan interventions, and drive continuous improvement in line with the School Excellence Plan.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
