Position Information
The Entrance North (Provisional) School is a newly established specialised school located on the Central Coast of New South Wales.
The school sits on Darkinjung land in a beachside location and is a member of the Kuriwa Aboriginal Education Consultative Group.
The school was previously a campus of Glenvale School and has 48 students, consisting of 8 classes,4% of students identify as Aboriginal and 15% have English as an Additional Language.
The school caters to students from 4 years of age up to the end of Year 12.
Classes are small, with 6 to 8 students, each supported by an inclusive education teacher and a School Learning Support Officer.
The school provides tailored individual education programs designed for students with a broad range of disabilities.
Most students have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, with many experiencing multiple disabilities.
Staff at The Entrance North (Provisional) School are highly skilled in supporting students with disabilities, and work with external providers, agencies and families, to support and develop the potential of every child in a safe, supportive and engaging workplace.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach.
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. An inspirational,
collaborative educational leader who demonstrates high expectations and the ability to build staff and executive capacity to drive improvement through evidence informed strategies and innovation.
2.Demonstrated expertise and proven success in supporting students with significant disability and complex behaviour support needs.
3.Capacity to lead and embed culturally safe and responsive practices that affirm Aboriginal identity, foster a sense of belonging, and ensure inclusive, strength-based learning environments for all students, especially Aboriginal students, families, staff and community, in a complex school setting.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to enhance collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and a wide range of external agencies, to improve student learning, wellbeing and post-school outcomes.
General Selection Criteria
1 .
High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2 .
Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3 .
High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4 .
Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5 .
Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6 .
Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
