n Fixed term temporary full time [12 months, part time hours may be considered]
n John Hunter Hospital, a leading tertiary referral centre in the Hunter New England Local Health District, is seeking highly experienced and dedicated consultants to join the Maternity and Gynaecology team. We are looking for specialists with expertise in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, or both. These roles offer a rewarding prospect to contribute to a high-quality, patient-centred service within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
n Key Responsibilities
n
n
Provide high level clinical care and leadership in the areas of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, or combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology
n
Participate in the on-call roster, ensuring 24/7 coverage for acute obstetric and gynaecological services
n
Supervise and support junior medical staff and actively participate in teaching and research activities
n
Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes
n
Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to deliver multidisciplinary care
n
Essential Criterian
n
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
n
Registration (or ability for registration) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
n
Extensive expertise in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, or both, with a strong clinical background in managing complex cases
n
Commitment to teaching, research and ongoing professional development
n
Demonstrated ability to work within a team and provide leadership in a multidisciplinary setting

Expedited Specialist Pathways Are you an International Medical Graduate (IMG) seeking specialist registration in Australia? The Expedited Specialist Pathway offers a streamlined route for eligible doctors to gain recognition and start practicing sooner. The Expedited Specialist Pathway is currently available for eligible doctors in the specialties of General Practice, Anaesthesia, Psychiatry, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with plans for expansion into other specialties. To be eligible for the Expedited Specialist Pathway, specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) must hold a specialist qualification on the Medical Board's Expedited Specialist Pathway accepted qualifications list. Accepted specialists can start practicing when the Medical Board has granted you specialist registration and approved your supervised position, with a period of six (6) months supervised practice being completed.
