Public Sector People are partnering with Mackay Regional Council to appoint a Senior Technical Officer Stormwater & Drainage—an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to play a key role in planning, designing and delivering stormwater and drainage infrastructure across one of Queensland's fastest-growing regional cities.
n
Reporting to the Coordinator Stormwater & Drainage, this position provides specialist technical expertise across the investigation, planning, design and delivery of stormwater and flood mitigation infrastructure while supporting the ongoing performance and resilience of Council's drainage network.
n
The Role
n
Working within the Infrastructure Planning team, you will contribute to a broad range of projects that protect communities, improve infrastructure performance and support Mackay's continued growth.
n
Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Delivering stormwater, drainage and flood mitigation infrastructure projects
n
Undertaking technical investigations, site inspections and drainage assessments
n
Preparing engineering designs, specifications, cost estimates and tender documentation
n
Managing consultants, contractors and project delivery within delegated authority
n
Supporting the management and improvement of Council's stormwater and drainage assets
n
Providing technical advice to internal stakeholders and the development industry
n
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation,



engineering standards and Council policies
n
Driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and service delivery
n
n

About You
n
You are an experienced engineering or technical professional with strong knowledge of stormwater and drainage infrastructure and enjoy working across project delivery, asset management and stakeholder engagement.
n
You will bring:
n
n
Experience in stormwater, drainage or civil infrastructure design and delivery
n
Knowledge of stormwater management, flood mitigation and asset management principles
n
Experience preparing technical documentation, scopes of work and tender specifications
n
Project and contractor management experience
n
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
n
Experience with AutoCAD, GIS and/or hydraulic modelling software such as TUFLOW (desirable)
n
Relevant engineering or infrastructure qualification (or equivalent experience)
n
