About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for freelance/contract work in North Melbourne, Australia. This is an on-site position supporting mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities.

Compensation

A$*****/hr (AUD hourly)
n
Rates vary based on experience level and project complexity. Emergency and after-hours work may qualify for premium rates.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations
n
Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic)
n
Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling
n
Perform cross-connects and patch panel work
n
Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues
n
Document all work with photos and detailed notes
n




Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams
n
n
Qualifications
n
n
2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience
n
Solid cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber)
n
Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro)
n
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in raised floor environments
n
Own transportation and ability to work on-site
n
Professional communication skills in English
n
Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) - preferred
n
Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) - preferred
n
Experience with DCIM and ticketing systems - preferred
n
Familiarity with major colocation providers - preferred
n
Standard tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment
n
