Job Description
Payroll Officer (0.6 FTE)
n 0.6 FTE | 3 month temporary contract with potential permanency | ASAP start
n Local council, eastern Melbourne
n 24 hours per week | Hybrid, Thursdays mandatory in the office
n $42 - $48 per hour

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join the team on a part time basis, working 24 hours per week across a flexible spread of days. This starts as a 3 month temporary contract with a solid chance of becoming permanent for the right person. The role is hybrid, with Thursdays in the office.

Our client is a well established local council in Melbourne's east, known for a supportive team culture and a genuine focus on doing right by its people. Their payroll function sits at the heart of that, and they are now looking to add an extra pair of hands.

What you will be doing
n
n
Assist with the preparation, input, processing and finalisation of fortnightly payroll data for electronic transmission.
n
Assist with the production of Council's payroll requirements and ensure all adjustments, including changes to employee payroll data, are processed within agreed timeframes.
n
Assist with the preparation of new rates of pay and the production of back payments.
n
Undertake monthly preparation, processing, reconciliation and disbursement of employee payroll deductions.
n
Maintain accurate payroll records and manage documentation so it can be retrieved quickly.

What you will bring
n
n
Chris21 experience (mandatory).
n
Previous experience in local government, public sector, healthcare or education.
n
A minimum of 2 to 3 years in a similar payroll position.
n
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
n
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to fortnightly deadlines.
n
