Senior Tax Accountant | SMSF & Business Clients | Public Practice

A well-established boutique accounting practice in Melbourne's outer-east is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join its growing team.
n
This opportunity would suit a capable and self-motivated professional with 5–10+ years of public practice experience who enjoys managing client relationships, working autonomously, and providing high-quality taxation, compliance and SMSF services.
n
The successful candidate will inherit a secure portfolio of loyal clients and work within a supportive, professional environment that values initiative, technical expertise and client service.

Responsibilities
n
n
Preparation of Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns for Individuals, Companies, Trusts and Partnerships.
n
Preparation and administration of Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).
n
Tax planning and compliance work across a diverse client base.
n
Preparation and lodgement of BAS and IAS.
n
Review and reconciliation of client accounting records.
n
ASIC compliance and annual company administration.
n
Client liaison and management of day-to-day accounting and taxation queries.
n




Preparation of year-end workpapers and supporting documentation.
n
Working with HandiTax and associated public practice systems.
n
n
About You
n
n
5–10+ years' experience within an Australian Public Practice accounting firm.
n
Strong technical taxation knowledge across business entities and individuals.
n
Experience preparing and managing superannuation accounts and compliance obligations.
n
Previous experience using HandiTax/Handisoft (highly desirable).
n
Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements.
n
Ability to work independently and manage your own workflow.
n
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
n
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
n
CPA or CA qualification (completed or nearing completion) will be highly regarded
n
