What's The Role:
Processing incoming and outgoing freight accurately and efficiently
Preparing and managing manifests, consignment documentation, run sheets and dispatch records
Maintaining and updating freight tracking information and shipment records
Coordinating daily freight movements to support safe and efficient depot operations
Liaising with drivers, warehouse teams, customers and operational controllers
Responding to customer enquiries and providing updates on freight movements
Identifying and resolving discrepancies in freight documentation and consignment details
Supporting daily administrative tasks and maintaining accurate operational records




Ensuring compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), transport regulations, safety requirements and company procedures
Assisting with the coordination of loading, unloading, dispatch and scheduling activities to meet operational deadlines
Providing day-to-day supervision and support to depot employees to ensure freight is handled safely and efficiently
Coordinating daily workloads, priorities and resource requirements across the depot
Supporting driver allocation, dispatch activities and operational handovers to keep freight moving to schedule
Monitoring safety, compliance and housekeeping standards across the depot and escalating issues where required
Acting as a key point of contact for operational issues and assisting with practical solutions to minimise delays
Supporting the Depot Manager and broader Operations team with daily depot performance, staffing and operational requirements
What You'll Bring:
Excellent attention to detail with robust data entry and documentation skills
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operational teams
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
Confidence using computer systems and learning recent technologies
A proactive attitude with the ability to take ownership and solve problems
Previous experience in freight, transport, logistics,



depot operations or administration (highly regarded)
Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
Previous experience in transport, freight, logistics, depot operations or administration (preferred)
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends or public holidays if required
Experience using transport or freight management systems
Knowledge of depot, freight and transport operations
Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements and transport safety principles
Familiarity with transport scheduling, dispatch and freight documentation processes
