About the role
The Security Investigation Unit (SIU) within Crime and Counter Terrorism Investigation Services is a specialist area within Victoria Police that works with partner agencies to investigate, disrupt and mitigate the risk of terrorism and politically motivated violence in Victoria.
The Security Investigation Unit targets high threat individuals, groups and facilitators of terrorism and security related offences, as defined in Commonwealth and State Acts.
Analysts work within investigative teams to support the identification, investigation and disruption of threats posed by religiously or ideologically motivated violent extremism and politically motivated violence.
Analysts at SIU will undertake operational and tactical intelligence tasks in dynamic and multidisciplinary teams to support SIUs operational response to threats to the Victorian security environment and associated criminal activity.

Your duties will include
Use a range of open and closed systems to collect relevant information.
Assess meaning from collected information and provide clear written and/or verbal analysis on the relevance of that information to unit decision makers.
Collate information on targets and/or themes so that meaningful assessments can be made that identify future issues, threats and trends relevant to SIU's priorities.
Produce written tactical and operational intelligence reports on specific targets or security related themes.
Undertake the collection, evaluation, collation, analysis and controlled dissemination of information.
Develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with members of your team.
Cultivate and maintain a detailed knowledge of the current terrorism threat environment.
Proactively identify intelligence tasks and execute them in consultation with a supervisor.




Comply with local instructions, policy and legislation in relation to information security, privacy and dissemination of information.
About You
Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills as well as robust written and oral communication skills.
Have a proven ability to work well within a dynamic and busy team environment.
Tertiary qualifications in the related fields of criminology, criminal justice or intelligence are highly desirable.
This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.
To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
