Heidelberg Materials Australia have an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and self-driven individual to join our Southern Region team as the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Lead.
Reporting to the Development Manager, this newly created role will suit a candidate who possesses good organisational and judgement skills and, the ability to effectively lead implementation of environment and regulatory compliance projects and initiatives across the region.
Key Accountabilities
Lead implementation of environment and regulatory compliance projects and initiatives in Victoria and Tasmania
Create site management schedules to support quarry and concrete plant managers and manage consultants to meet obligations
Implement audit findings conducted by risk team, assisting sites to complete these
Effectively work with Quarry and Concrete Plant Managers, Area Managers, and assist Business Unit Operations Managers where required with compliance issues
Report incidents as required to regulators regarding reporting regulatory non-compliances.
Maintain positive relationships with regulators
Implement training for new Quarry and Concrete Plant Managers in site approval obligations
Manage and maintain centralised document systems related to land management and regulatory approval documents
Influence change management in awareness of site obligations, assisting operations to forecast expenditure
Assist operations managers with conducting tenders for ongoing monitoring and reporting at sites
Represent HMA in policy and regulatory reform discussions where required and stay abreast of changing regulations, communicating any changes back into the business
Regularly report to management on progress and outcomes of compliance related matters including risks
Ability to work within a team and autonomously
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
Follow safety protocols as instructed by staff when working on site.
Qualifications and Experience
At least 5 years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in quarry, mining, construction, waste and recycling or related industries
A Bachelors Degree in an Environmental science or environmental engineering field or related qualification
