Job Description
The Senior Project Manager provides leadership of a major and/or complex project involving multiple internal and external stakeholders. This includes the day-to-day management of the assigned Project Management Team and interaction with other groups within Saab and the end customer.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the outcome of the project, including cost, schedule, scope, quality, customer satisfaction and any other project objectives as defined in the Contract/Project Directive.

Key
Responsibilities/Duties
n
n
Definition, management, and ownership of the scope of work, including schedule, cost/margin and quality outcomes for the project/programme.
n
Provide leadership, direction and delegation to the Project Management Team, as required.
n
Develop and mentor junior and developing PMs.
n
Development of the project/programme approach to achieve project, programme and corporate outcomes as per Contract/Project Directive, including identification of opportunity in order to maximise outcomes.
n
Prepare, monitor and revise plans, estimates, cost accounts and schedules for the project to meet the objectives set by the Contract/Project Directive.
n
Assess risk related to the project.
n
Lead and present status at Steering Committee Meetings, Gate Reviews, Customer Reviews and Progress Meetings.
n
Manage Contract Variations and scope change.
n
Develop and maintain knowledge on the use of the solution(s).
n
Develop and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders.
n
Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the management system.
n
Treat everyone with respect, communicate regularly and openly with manger and team, and ensuring all decisions are made with fairness in mind.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience
n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Science, Engineering or in a Business discipline.
n




At least 5 years' experience in a project management role, preferably Naval or Defence Software Projects.
n
Experience meeting the requirement of the competency level as per above.
n
Positive understanding of best practice Project Management
n
Experience in the leadership of systems projects.
n
Experience in managing the integration phase of a project
n
Experience in managing multiple priority projects at once
n
Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of system development projects.
n
Demonstrated ability to lead staff within a team environment and to foster cooperation within and between teams.
n
Proven ability in internal and external customer liaison.
n
Experience in producing and reviewing project documentation.
n
Demonstrated scheduling and planning skills.
n
Knowledge and experience across system domains.
n
Meeting the requirements of Australian Institute of Project Management CPPD accreditation or similar.
n
Post-Graduate Qualifications in Project Management (Desirable)
n
Experience in Cost Schedule System Reporting (CSSR) or related Earned Value Management system.
n
