Job Description
Your new company: Our client is one of Australia's leading providers of building and restoration services, operating nationally and supporting a large, multi-site workforce. Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of the payroll function and lead payroll operations across the business.

Your New Role
n
Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll function nationally, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, legislative compliance, and continuous improvement across payroll systems and procedures. This is a hands-on leadership role that will see you managing payroll operations while also driving process improvements and supporting future business growth.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Managing and executing end-to-end payroll processing across a national workforce.
n
Processing manual payments including terminations, adjustments, and redundancy payments.
n
Managing monthly payroll functions including superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and reporting.
n
Maintaining payroll systems, employee databases, and timekeeping systems.
n
Ensuring payroll data integrity and employee records are accurate and up to date.
n
Interpreting awards, NES, and employment legislation to ensure compliance.
n
Acting as the key point of contact for payroll enquiries and issue resolution.
n
Supporting the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of payroll staff.
n
Collaborating with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders to meet payroll compliance requirements.
n
Identifying and implementing process improvements, automation opportunities, and best-practice payroll procedures.
n
Developing and monitoring payroll KPIs to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.

What You'll Need to Succeed
n
You will be a highly experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing day-to-day payroll operations with strategic process improvement initiatives.
n
You Will Bring
n
n
Proven experience as a Payroll Manager or Senior Payroll Professional within a large, multi-site organisation.
n
Extensive hands-on experience managing end-to-end payroll processing.
n
Experience working with workforces of 500+ employees.
n
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements, awards, and the National Employment Standards (NES).
n
Experience using payroll systems, with MYOB PayGlobal experience highly regarded.
n
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
n
The ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and manage competing demands.
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
Experience implementing new payroll systems or integrating acquired businesses onto a common payroll platform will be highly advantageous.
n
A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement.
