About the Role
n
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Support Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep technical expertise in z15 z/OS environments and niche mainframe systems administration skills. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role, responsible for maintaining mission-critical systems, delivering operational support, and ensuring system reliability in a 24x7 environment.

The ideal candidate will bring over a decade of experience in mainframe support, software migration, and maintenance, along with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilitiesn
n
Provide operational and technical support for mainframe systems in a z15 z/OS workplace.
n
Manage software maintenance, including patching and upgrading software using SMP/E.
n
Perform operational monitoring, alerting, and tuning for system performance.
n
Support application teams and management with mainframe expertise.
n
Operate and monitor master console activities.
n
Conduct in-depth analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of incident/problem tickets.
n
Maintain and enhance middleware, scheduler, and batch processing systems.
n
Ensure security compliance through RACF and Natural Security administration.
n
Build and maintain strong working relationships with technical teams and stakeholders.
n
Provide 24x7 support including shift work and after-hours coverage.
n

n
Monitoring & Operational Support: XYMON, MXG, VPS/NIMSPL
n
Middleware: MQ, Datastream, RPC, CORBA
n
Scheduler/Batch Processor: CA-11, Jobtrac
n
Job Language: JCL
n
Security: RACF, Natural Security
n
Source Code Management: N20
n
Storage/Backup: Hitachi VPS****, CA-1 (Tape Management)
n
Mandatory Requirementsn




n
Australian citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance recommended).
n
Minimum 10 years' experience in:n
n
Supporting mainframe environments.
n
Mainframe software migration and maintenance processes.
n
Automation scripting using SAS and REXX.
n
z-platform and z/OS hardware and operating systems.
n
Application control in mainframe architecture, middleware, and tooling.
n
Batch technology from a support perspective.
n
n
