What You'll Be Doing
n
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our platform. Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Designing and building RESTful APIs for our front-end applications and partners
n
Integrating with a range of external services such as Salesforce, Auth0, Cloudflare, and more
n
Architecting solutions that meet our high availability, security, and performance requirements
n
Maintaining our infrastructure on a major cloud provider to support our rapid growth
n
Writing well-structured, tested, and documented code that's a pleasure to maintain
n
Working closely with our Product, Design, and other teams to refine deliverables and bring new features to life
n
n
What We're Looking For
n




We're seeking a passionate backend engineer who can solve complex technical problems and communicate solutions with ease.
n
Required Experience:
n
n
Minimum 5 years of commercial Ruby on Rails experience
n
Proven experience integrating with multiple external APIs
n
Experience with database design and performance tuning, particularly with PostgreSQL
n
Experience designing and maintaining infrastructure with AWS, GCP, or Heroku
n
Experience with testing frameworks like Rspec
n
Experience with high-volume background job processing frameworks like Sidekiq
n
Robust experience designing and maintaining both public and private REST APIs
n
Proficiency with development tools like Linear or Jira
n
Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
n
Bonus Points
n
n
Experience with security best practices (e.g., OWASP, STRIDE)
n
Experience with synchronising data between distributed systems
n
Experience in high-volume production environments with strict availability SLAs
n
Knowledge of the financial services industry (lending or corporate finance)
n
Experience navigating GDPR and/or SOC2
n
