Job Description
The Data Management & Information Lifecycle Management Practice Lead plays a critical role within MetLife Australia's Data & Analytics (D&A;) function, establishing and maturing enterprise data management capabilities across governance, policy, standards and operating models. Guided by our purpose — always with you, building a more confident future — and our New Frontier strategy, this role ensures data is managed as a strategic asset across its lifecycle in a compliant, trusted and scalable way. Operating within a regulated financial services environment, you will partner across business and technology teams to embed governance‐by‐design, improve data quality, reduce data risk and enable better decision‐making and delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead and embed enterprise data governance and ILM practices, including data ownership, stewardship models, governance forums, metadata, lineage and data quality frameworks.
n
Drive compliance and risk management across the data lifecycle, including classification, retention, disposal, audit readiness and regulatory obligations in partnership with Risk, Legal and Compliance.
n
Develop and operationalise data management frameworks, policies, standards and playbooks, ensuring adoption across business and technology teams.
n
Partner with stakeholders to translate regulatory, business and technology requirements into practical governance controls embedded within delivery lifecycles and data platforms.
n
Enable continuous improvement and capability uplift, including training, maturity measurement,
automation and use of AI‐enabled tools to enhance governance efficiency and outcomes.

Required Qualifications
n
n
Proven experience (5+ years) in enterprise data management, data governance or information lifecycle management within a regulated setting (e.g. financial services, insurance).
n
Strong expertise in data quality, metadata management, lineage, stewardship models and governance frameworks.
n
Demonstrated experience embedding governance‐by‐design into data platforms, delivery lifecycles and operating models.
n
Strong understanding of data risk, regulatory and audit requirements, with the ability to translate policy into practical controls and processes.
n
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to operate across business, technology and executive levels.
n
Comfort using AI‐enabled and digital productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft 365 Copilot or similar) to support efficient work outcomes, with sound judgement and adherence to organisational policies, governance and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications
n
n
Relevant qualifications in Information Management, Data, Technology, Risk/Compliance or related disciplines.
n
Professional certifications such as CDMP (DAMA), IAPP or RIMPA, or equivalent.
n
Experience with data governance and platform tools (e.g. Collibra, Snowflake, BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI).
n
Understanding of AI, automation and data‐driven governance practices, including metadata and data quality optimisation.
n
Experience within life insurance, banking or financial services environments.
n
