This full-time, Adelaide-based position requires Australian citizenship due to defence project requirements.

Responsibilities
n

Lead and manage the mechanical design office, supporting and mentoring a team of engineers and designers.
n
Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems including actuator arms, gearboxes, and aircraft structural assemblies.
n
Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electronics, avionics, and composite structures.
n
Drive design reviews, design documentation, and continuous improvement practices across the team.
n
Maintain a hands-on presence when needed—supporting prototyping, fault-finding, and system testing.
n
Collaborate closely with R&D;, manufacturing, and leadership teams to align technical outcomes with broader project goals.

Requirements
n
n




Extensive experience in mechanical design for complex systems (e.g., UAVs, aircraft, robotics, or automotive platforms).
n
Demonstrated leadership or team management experience in an engineering setting.
n
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools) for 3D modeling and mechanical systems design.
n
Practical knowledge of prototyping, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems.
n
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
n

Desirable

Aerospace engineering background with mechanical design experience.
n
Knowledge of lightweight structural design and materials (e.g., composites, alloys).
n
Familiarity with manufacturing processes for precision mechanical components.
