About The Role
n
Our client is seeking an experienced Planning Manager to lead their in-house planning function and drive the successful delivery of a diverse property development portfolio across Western Australia. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will oversee a team of six planners and play a key role in shaping strategic planning outcomes, managing approvals, and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6 planners in a large multi disciplinary consultancy, fostering performance, capability development, and engagement
n
Oversee planning strategy and statutory approvals across residential, mixed-use, and/or commercial developments
n
Manage all stages of the planning process including feasibility input, due diligence, applications, and approvals
n
Provide strategic advice to development and executive teams on planning risks, opportunities, and timelines
n
Build and maintain strong relationships with local councils, government authorities, and external consultants
n
Monitor and interpret changes in planning legislation, policies, and regulatory frameworks
n
Drive efficiencies in planning processes,
systems, and reporting
n
Support site acquisition and project feasibility with planning insights
n
Ensure projects align with planning frameworks, community expectations, and sustainability considerations
n

About You
n
n
Degree-qualified in Urban & Regional Planning or a related discipline
n
Significant recent experience in a WA based planning consultancy
n
Proven track record managing planning approvals and complex developments
n
Minimum of 10 years experience in a private consultancy
n
Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
n
Strong understanding of WA planning frameworks and statutory processes
n
Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
n
Commercially astute, with the ability to balance risk, timelines, and project outcomes
n
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
n
