Are you a Registered Nurse passionate about supporting the growth and success of emerging nursing professionals?
Join Western District Health Service as a Clinical Support Nurse – Aged Care , where you'll mentor and guide Graduate Registered and Enrolled Nurses as they transition into confident, capable practitioners.
This is a role for someone who values education, leadership, and person-centred care, and who enjoys working alongside staff to build clinical skills, confidence, and professional capability.
Through bedside coaching, mentorship, and targeted education, you'll help shape a positive learning culture while supporting protected, high-quality care and meaningful outcomes for aged care residents.
What You'll Be Doing As part of our aged care education and clinical leadership team, you'll support the development of graduate nurses and promote excellence in resident-centred care through: Graduate Support Transition to Practice — Provide direct clinical support to Graduate Registered and Enrolled Nurses, helping them build confidence, competence, and safe clinical practice within aged care.
Clinical Coaching Mentorship — Deliver bedside coaching, mentorship, role modelling, and clinical guidance to strengthen clinical knowledge, technical skills, and decision-making.
Education Professional Development — Develop and facilitate targeted education sessions, in-services, and learning opportunities that support graduate and workforce capability.
Clinical Competency Evidence-Based Practice — Support staff to achieve and maintain clinical competencies while integrating contemporary evidence, professional standards, and aged care principles into practice.
Clinical Assessment Resident Safety — Guide graduates in developing assessment, clinical reasoning, documentation, and escalation skills to ensure safe, high-quality resident care.
Collaboration Continuous Improvement — Work closely with educators, nursing leaders, and clinical teams to support workforce development, quality improvement, and a positive learning culture.
What You Bring Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA Demonstrated experience in aged care nursing and a commitment to person-centred resident care Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting graduate nurses, students, or developing staff Strong clinical assessment, reasoning, decision-making, and escalation skills Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and clinical leaders Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, and resident safety Experience supporting clinical competency development, education, and skilled learning activities Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic medical record systems Commitment to reflective practice, continuous improvement, and ongoing professional development Understanding of professional standards, clinical governance, and safe work practices Alignment with the WDHS Values of Integrity, Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy.
