Senior Automation & Virtualisation Infrastructure Engineer – Federal Gov Contract

Hatchit Studios is seeking an experienced Senior Automation & Virtualisation Infrastructure Engineer to support a federal government client in the delivery of secure and scalable infrastructure services.
n
This role requires deep technical expertise across VMware, automation frameworks, and enterprise infrastructure management within highly regulated environments.
n
About the Prospect
n
As part of an established Infrastructure Platforms team, you will play a key role in the management, enhancement, and automation of VMware virtualisation environments and associated infrastructure platforms.
n
You'll design and deliver automation solutions, maintain business-critical systems, and contribute to the ongoing uplift of the government's technology capability and operational efficiency.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Manage and optimise VMware environments including Aria Automation, Aria Orchestrator, vSphere, NSX, and Site Recovery Manager.
n
Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Ansible, or Terraform.
n
Deliver design, build, and operational documentation to support ICT infrastructure services.
n
Implement backup, storage, and replication solutions (e.g., Veeam, NetApp, or equivalent).
n
Ensure system reliability, compliance,



and alignment with ICT best practices and security frameworks.
n
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve complex infrastructure issues and drive service improvements.
n
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Skills & Experience Required
n
n
Proven experience managing VMware environments (vSphere, Aria
Automation/Orchestrator,
NSX, Cloud Foundation).
n
Strong automation and scripting capability with PowerShell, PowerCLI, YAML, or Ansible.
n
Demonstrated experience delivering design, build, and operations documentation in structured ICT environments.
n
Familiarity with backup and recovery tools (e.g., Veeam, CommVault, or similar).
n
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
n
Prior experience working in federal government or secure enterprise environments (highly regarded).
n
Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain Baseline Security Clearance (NV1/NV2 highly regarded).
