Are you a senior technical leader ready to take ownership of a mission-critical SaaS platform? Fusion5 is looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to ensure the performance, availability, and operational resilience of Jemini - our modern cloud-based HR and Payroll solution. This role combines DevOps engineering, SQL database administration, and hands-on technical leadership. You'll serve as a senior escalation point, drive platform automation, manage critical incidents and releases, and collaborate with a high-performing team across Australia and New Zealand. n
Own the Jemini platform's technical operations across Azure, SQL Server (SQL MI preferred), and supporting infrastructure.
n
Lead uptime management, performance monitoring, and capacity
n
Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and containerised deployments
(Docker/Kubernetes).
n
Act as the primary escalation point for critical incidents and support after-hours resolution and release activities.
n
Administer SQL databases, manage security, implement encryption and compliance best practices, and support high availability configurations and experience with performance tuning.
n
Mentor technical staff, support DevOps maturity, and ensure operational excellence across the stack.
n
Engage with development teams, vendors, and customers to align technology and business outcomes.
n
What You'll Bringn
n




10+ years in senior IT roles with a focus on operations and platform engineering.
n
Proven expertise across Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, enterprise networking, and cloud security.
n
Proficiency in automation scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
n
Proven success in CI/CD pipeline engineering and infrastructure as code (Terraform or ARM).
n
Experience in 24x7 SaaS support environments and ISO/IEC *****-compliant operations.
n
Strong communication and incident leadership skills with a customer-centric mindset.
n
Desirable (but not essential)n
n
Experience in HR/Payroll SaaS platforms.
n
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), Prometheus, Grafana, and SQL Profiler.
n
Azure SQL Managed Instance
n
ITIL knowledge and Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator or Database Admin Associate).
n
SSIS/SSRS and data integration experience.
n
